Top U.S. Official Visits Israel as Allies Urge Limits on Rafah Incursion

Benny Gantz, a centrist member of Israel’s war cabinet, stated that he would leave the country’s emergency wartime government if Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu didn’t address key concerns about Israel’s war. Gantz emphasized that they would turn to the people and form a new government if Netanyahu continued on a path that he believes would harm the country. Gantz gave Netanyahu until Jun. 8 to reach an agreement on a six-point plan that includes bringing back hostages, addressing governance in Gaza, and advancing normalization with Saudi Arabia, among other issues.
